Specimen Collage, Allison Baldwin, 2019.
The DFW Bird Strike Insect Atlas contains 21 species of insects found in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and includes photographs of intact and dissected insects. Images can be searched by keywords, using either the family classification or specific body part. This database was created in collaboration with UNT photography student Allison Baldwin, UNT M.S. student Taylor Gillum, and UNT professor James Kennedy. Insect species were chosen for this database based on Gillum’s findings in her research project, titled “Evaluating Diets of Insectivorous Birds, Killed by Aircraft and Insect Habitats at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Reduce Bird Strikes”.
Allison Baldwin recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography. This project is the result of an independent study done during her final semester and received a CVAD Student Project Award.
